The Smiley IP Law Group's attorneys are not the only members of the firm with scientific training; Lori Smiley, the firm's
paralegal and office manager, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from St. Louis College of Pharmacy
in St. Louis, Missouri. Lori worked as a Registered Pharmacist in both Illinois and Florida, where she earned multiple awards for
her business and personnel management. Lori's more than 10 years of experience as a retail pharmacist instilled in her
unparalleled communication skills and an amazing eye for details. Lori is a current member of the Broward County Pharmacist
Association.
Lori has been working with The Smiley IP Law Group, P.A. since the beginning of 2011. She recently attended the American Intellectual Property Law Association's Patent Cooperation Treaty Seminar in Alexandria, VA, as well as numerous other programs and learning seminars on a variety of intellectual-property matters.
For many years, Lori Smiley has been an active member of the South Florida community. Lori was a member of the Board of Directors for Petset, an auxiliary group of the Humane Society of Broward County, for over 4 years. Lori chaired many Signature events for Petset which raised well over $100,000 cumulatively during her time on the board. Lori also chaired an event in 2008 to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which raised over $23,000 for the charity. Lori is currently a member of the Humane Society of the United States and South Florida Wildlife Rescue.

Ellen H. Ullman began working in the legal field over 10 years ago, specifically concentrating in the area of Intellectual-Property.
Ms. Ullman holds a Master's degree from Florida Atlantic University. Ellen supports the firm's attorneys with the prosecution of our
client’s patents, trademarks, and copyrights, as well as our litigation matters.
Outside of the legal field, Ellen has been a passionate and tireless proponent for diabetes advocacy since 1989 when her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She is a well-respected Internet and social media liaison who compiles and disseminates the latest news about diabetes research, products and medical devices. Through her participation in conferences, social media, support groups, chat rooms and forums, Ellen offers an empathetic, encouraging, and empowering presence to families impacted by diabetes. She also serves as Vice-President of the Children with Diabetes Foundation, volunteers for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, and serves as a consumer reviewer for the Cochrane Collaboration. Ellen also works as a research associate for Close Concerns.
Ellen is the recipient of The Jeff Hitchcock Distinguished Service Award (2009), and recognized as an Extraordinary Woman in the Community (2011).
